Tanis
(aka Tanishka, Tanya, …)
Tanis was born in a small village of greek colonist/expatriots in the Crimea. Her actual birthdate is unknown and she has no memories of her father (who died before she was born), and only limited memories of her mother. Much later the investigations of the covenent of Animus Silvae concluded:
- Both her mother and father were human.
- Her father had probably had an encounter with a wood nymph (probably a Caryatid).
- She is named after her father.
- Her mother died while she was an infant.
- Following the death of her mother the other villagers were relieved when a prosperous-looking gentleman with an ?aged nursemaid arrived, claimed to be a relative, and took her away.
- She was approximately 10 years old when they discovered her on approximately 12th May 1197.
Members of Animus Silvae discovered Tanis in the court of a powerful faerie during Spring 1197 and by a combinations of threats, force, and trickery extracted both her and the nursemaid. Upon returning to the covenant Elly took her as an apprentice.
Tanis' captor continued to harass Animus for the next 15 years and she had another encounter with him during her gauntlet. A couple of seasons after gauntlet Tanis' parens, Elly, departed into a faerie regio and has not been seen since.
Animus Silvae is preparing for impending cataclysms; and they hoped that distance would at least reduce the amount of time Tanis had to spend dealing with the overattentive faerie; so the senior magi were delighted when they heard that Edward was looking for new juniors…
Tanis is a Follower of Pendule, and has completed the initiation of Spell Timing.
Moderate-term goals
- Find another master Follower of Pendule to study from
- Get out from under the eye of the annoying faerie
- Find a suitable familiar
- Consider thinking about considering apprentices
Notes to GMs
- Please interpret the above as a write-out of Elly. Whilst I have "borrowed" her as a parens I think it might be a bit odd having someone else's PC I can barely remember actually intrude on the campaign.
- Likewise Animus was destroyed/killed/disappeared in the 1230s by the Mongols (after mostly defeating their own faerie menace).
- Note Tanis' sympathy traits of Trees (positive) and Confinement (negative).
