Being an approach to Imantosi, Primus of House Verditius
From Alexios, Summer 1218:
To the esteemed Imanitosi of Verditius, Prima of the House and Senior Magus of the Covenant of Verdi, Doctor Alexios Constantine, Magus of the Schola Pythagoranis and Magus Ex Miscellanea, sends greetings on this, the twentieth day of August, in the twelve hundred and eighteenth year of our Lord.
I have felt some trepidation in approaching you, Primus of the House that my parens once was a member of. Indeed, I did not venture to approach you before but was emboldened by the encouragement of Junius of your house, who recommended that I approach you.
I am not aware of what it was that my parens did to be declared Orbus and, in all honesty, I have no desire to know. He is my parens and my friend and I owe him much. His teaching has broadened my understanding in ways I would never have thought possible when I was solely a philosopher and scholar of the natural world. I make this avowal in advance as it seems to me that truth and honesty must come before anything else.
Yet I have always had respect for your house and many ways I wish I had been part of it. My ambitions and desires in magic are ones borne of the house that my magic is linked to and while I will not criticise my parens, I would reach out to his former house in the hope that, whatever caused his dismissal from the house, you would be willing to consider me in friendship and brotherhood.
There follows two pages of commentary about why Alexios is in heart and spirit one with House Verditius
This being the case, I am emboldened to hope that you would be willing to accept me into your House and entrust me with the secrets that only those of it may possess.
I remain your respectful servant, Alexios Kaloethes.
From Verdi, Autumn 1218:
To Alexios Kaloethes of Stonehenge,
Please can you accept my apologies, for the Prima is currently occupied on a project of great significance and is not to be disturbed for any reason. However although your case is unusual there is a normal way that these things work.
You will have to come to Verdi and discuss your petition with the Prima in person; then you will need to convince a second senior member of the House that you are a suitable candidate, and undergo a ritual initation to join the House.
This may take as much as a year or longer; and might include dangerous quests.
You will also need to sever all ties with House Ex Miscellanea; including to your parens, the Orbus.
Do please contact me again if you wish to arrange to meet with the Prima.
Elenedda, Forge-Companion of Imanitosi
From Alexios to Elenedda, Spring 1219
To Elenedda, Forge-Companion of Inanitosi, Doctor Alexios Kaloethes sends greetings.
I apologise for the delay in responding to your kind letter. I am grateful for the response.
All the stipulations within the letter seem reasonable and I would be glad to undertake them, except for one that I fear may bar me forever from the companionship of the House. I fear that my honour would not allow me to cut all ties with my parens. Whatever the nature of his quarrels with the House, he discovered my talents and nurtured them. Further, he is my friend. If I made such an agreement it would be a false one, that I intended to break. Such is not within my character.
If some lesser agreement were to satisfy Imanitosi, such for instance, that I did not reveal any secrets of the House entrusted to me, or even that I do not publicly associate with him in Tribunal under the eyes of the rest of the Order, then I would, with sadness, be able to swear to such a thing with an honest heart.
Perhaps you would do me the kindness of laying out my request to Imanitosi when the Prima has returned from seclusion. If such a slight modification is possible, then I would be grateful to have the opportunity to arrange an audience.
