Dear Yulegoat (or other ruminant), [This greeting is now traditional, I've used it since at least 2009] Once again I'd note that you may well have written for me in Yuletide before (in which case thanks a lot for doing so!), but two years ago I changed the name on my AO3 account and now I'm Larilille. In previous years I was known as Senji. I've continued, since then, exploring myself; and I'd appreciate seeing characters I can identify with in one way or another. I'm a polyamorous pansexual trans-feminine non-binary pixie gamer filker geek with ADHD, so that's a lot of stuff to identify with! I have no major overarching DNWs but there are a couple in the requests themselves. Likewise I'm not adverse to something that's not a traditional story -- if your fannish inclinations lead you to Interactive Fiction or a CYOA story, or whatever, then feel free! One additional note, since I've enjoyed crossover and AU fics in the past, is that I do not want crossover with anything written by JK Rowling. Alliance-Union - C. J. Cherryh Either: Ariane Emory II & Catlin AC-7892 II or: Meg Kady & Sal Aboujib or: an imaginative combination Characters: Ariane Emory II & Catlin AC-7892 II These books have two characters I've always identified very strongly with; and had problems with both identifications until recently. With hindsight very much becomes clear. These two are Ari II and Justin. But for this request I really want you to centre Catlin and her relationship with Ari. I have no idea if it's possible within canon, without bending Catlin's character, to actually put her into a position of physical intimacy with Ari; but my read is that her (confused, endocrine) feelings are more than just the imprinting left by tape. Take that suggestion where it leads you and we can all see where it goes. DNW: I absolutely do not want no-con, dub-con, or even implied consent on Catlin's part. Those themes would be fine applied to Ari. Mini-Challenges: Three Turtle Doves: Catlin is in a relationship web that's inherently kind of poly, but as I said in the main prompt, I want Catlin centred, particularly regarding her relationship with Ari. However including Florian, or at a greater remove Justin, as a counterpoint could potentially work quite well. Queering the Tide: The whole of Cyteen/Regenesis is very queer, there's no way this couldn't be; but looking at the queerness could very much satisfy my main prompt. TransTide: This really doesn't work here I'm afraid. Characters: Meg Kady & Sal Aboujib The four from Heavy Time and Hellrider have an amazing friendship dynamic that rings very true to me, but their friendship is going to be tested even harder as the Fleet leaves Earth. I would like a view of where they are a few years down the line, when it's clear that the war isn't going to be short; or possibly even victorious. Centred on Meg and Sal of course. I've never felt a strong identification with any of these characters; although if you'd pressed 25-year-ago me I'd've been hard pressed to pick between Dekker and Ben and would had probably claimed to aspire to be Bird. Nowadays I'm older and queerer and I'm growing close to Meg. DNW: please don't split Meg and Sal up; I don't need HEA/HFN but please keep them together. Mini-Challenges: Three Turtle Doves: Feel free to draw Dekker and Ben in with Meg and Sal, so long as they don't steal the limelight. I can't see that their group is going to split up long term; although how poly it is is definitely up for interpretation. Queering the Tide: Meg and Sal absolutely ooze queerness, lean into it! TransTide: I don't have any trans headcanon here, but if you've always wanted to write Meg or Sal as trans then go ahead, it could only make Meg resonate more strongly with me. Characters: an imaginative combination I'm not sure how you'd put these characters together; but it might well be fun? Go for it; but note my DNW's above. Mini-Challenges: See my notes above; but go wild! Sing For Me - Jaymie Wagner Characters: Leah, Amy, Amélie (or should that be Amy, Leah, Amélie?) I love Jaymie's writing and I love her three good pups. I would be totally happy with PWP here; or a story centring any or all of the three. Amy being badass and carving out space for the pack; Leah pushing buttons and boundaries to get what she wants; or Amélie bringing her wisdom to solve problems. It's all good. I want more of them! Mini-Challenges: Three Turtle Doves: Canonical OT3 here, so totally valid for this! Queering the Tide: Also it's a canonical lesbian pairing TransTide: None of the three headline characters are canonically trans, and I don't think being a trans woman would work with Amy or Amélie's backstories, but a trans Leah could be interesting to consider. Alternatively a careful exploration of gender on the part of one or more of the characters post-canon could also be interesting. Seven Devils Series - Elizabeth May & Laura Lam Characters: Eris, Clo I'm not really sure what to say here; I bought this on the basis of Elizabeth's promotion of it on twitter and I loved reading it, but I think it's going to take another readthrough for me to be able to actually express *what* I loved about it. But one thing I really did love was the tension between Eris and Clo; and more of that would be lovely, wherever it takes you! Mini-Challenges: I'm not sure any of the three Mini Challenges apply here, but if you think you can make one work within the canonical characterization go right ahead. Larilille.
