"If you'll just wait here?"

"Thanks, Eleanor", Harry said as she left.

Ron waited until the door shut, "Are they allowed to go to the Ball?"

"If we invite them.  Neville asked McGonagall; apparently he's invited
Thérèse."

They broke off as the door opened, admitting two Hufflepuffs
chattering enthusiastically.

Ron considered his friend, and decided to take the lead.

"Harry was wondering if you'd accompany him to the Ball, Ginny."  

He swallowed, "and I'd be honoured if you'd come with me, Luna."

The young women glanced at each other.

"We would be..." one began, smiling dreamily.

"...delighted." finished the other.
