Maimonides aka Moshe ben Maimon was a Cordovan Jew whose contributions to philosophical and religious thought was hugely influential, but confined to the Jewish community. His most famous work, A Guide for the Perplexed, reconciled Jewish theology with Aristotelian philosophy.
