Adric of Casorva

[Year One Summary] /[Year Two Summary and Quotes] / [Year Three Summary and Quotes] / [Year Four Summary and Quotes]

A young man who is a very minor member of a noble house, who was picked out as a boy by an older, ambitious and better connected member of the house and groomed as something of a spy, thief and potentially assassin (hasn't happened yet). This role isn't publically known at present, and he'll be feeling very exposed if this mission requires him to show himself to be more than the slightly empty-headed youngster he's always presented himself as. He enjoys the use of the blade, spending much of his spare time in learning and practise, and had he not been shaped to this role, might have instead have sought advancement in the military.

Professional skills
Stealth, Pickpocket, Lockpicking, Climbing, Swordfighting

Non-professional skills.
Unarmed Combat, Politics, Bluff*, Investigation*, Forgery, (Riding).

Psyche: 1
Strength: 2
Endurance: 2*
Warfare: 5*

Probability manipulation
You generally have the right change in your pocket, and you're not very popular with casinos or bookies. You can't prove it, a sceptical observer is a real hindrance, but you're sure there's more to your luck than just luck. Psyche and Warfare would be useful stats.

*Improved

How do you appear to others? Physical description, demeanor, etc.
Short and inoffensive, with floppy brown hair and a boyish grin. In public, his body language is generally conciliatory and he defers to others. When he's working, he's quietly confident and has a fine economy of motion. Except when he's working, he dresses to give the impression of being just slightly overweight, though in fact he's on the slender side.

How have you distinguished yourself? Any heroic rescues or daring feats? Have you exaggerated your deeds or minimised them?
I've been of use in several discrete investigations; none of them were heroic. To my patron, my deeds are not exaggerated - just always cast in the best light. I don't talk about what I've done to others.

What sort of reputation do you have? Is it the one you would have chosen if you could? Do people under or over-estimate you?
I have a reputation as a bit of a loser. That suits me, because people naturally tend to underestimate me, and I've been working on keeping it that way.

What fiascos have you been involved in? (There should be at least one) Who have you blamed it on?
An attempt to get a piece of critical information from another house turned into a diasaster when I was seen at just the wrong time and everything just got worse from there. I managed to shift all of the blame for that one onto one of my cousins, who had an assignation with one of the daughters of the house that night. He 'blundered into' my operation and ruined it. That took some doing, and I didn't exactly come out smelling of roses, but at least none of the mud stuck.

I've made a few other mis-steps, but rather than revealing me as what I am, I've managed to make them add to my reputation as a loser.

If you learned of someone's nefarious deeds, would you confront them head-on, leak the information to a third party, or bide your time?
Bide my time and keep watching. There might, after all, be a way to
use it to advantage, and the more I know, the more likely that is.

Who would you turn to for help?
My patron within the house.

Who would you turn to if the problem was the person you would have turned to?
Myself. I can't think of anyone else I'd trust at that point.

Long live the King?
As long as he's doing his job.

Whose side are you on? Amber's? Random's? Your parent's? Just yours?
Definitely my side, though I do feel loyalty to my patron. Also, I want to rise within the system, so I''m quite keen on Amber remaining strong and stable.

Who is on your side?
My patron, at least up unless I screw up too badly.

How far would you go to protect your secrets?
As far as I had to.

In a confrontation, what is your preferred battleground? Warfare, Strength or Psyche?
Warfare.

Innocent bystanders: temporary shield, useful distraction, annoying witness or in need of protection?
Useful distraction.

If asked why he's been sent on this mission ... will he claim competence in some area? Random will expect to have been sent people with some skills...
He'd emphasise his skills with a blade, and if that doesn't feel like enough, he'd claim experience of politics and intrigue, especially the kind that goes on between the noble houses. He's not especially comfortable revealing that under the goofy grin there is a good brain, but as long as his skills in breaking and entering, forgery and other kinds of more physical larceny aren't brought to the front, he still has an ace up his sleeve.

Does he have any close siblings, friends, old flames, etc. ?
I don't think there's anyone especially close to him. He's not the sort of person his peers cultivate. There are almost certainly three or four young ladies he's held a candle for, but his public self and known prospects aren't all that inspiring, so things tend to never go beyond a few rather desultory dates. I would guess that this is the one thing that he resents about being what he is.
